High entrance hall

Brightened with large, rectangular windows, the High Hall provided adequate access to the most representative interiors of the Palace. At the very end of the Vestibule, a magnificent stone portal leads to the Summer Refectory; above it, a musical gallery for heralds was arranged in the thickness of the wall. One of the most interesting elements in this room is the northern wall with a reduced thickness in favor of octagonal granite columns, which makes it optically extremely light.

On the wide window sill there is a well opening running through all storeys, and next to it there is a drain into the water with its intake in the form of a stone lavabo for washing hands – the present one was created in the first half of the 19th century, but in a medieval style. Halfway along the length of the entrance hall, a decorative stone portal leads to the Winter Refectory. In the times of the Teutonic Knights, the vestibule was colorfully polychrome – similarly to the Summer Refectory, the walls were red, and the vault was decorated with a floral flagellum.
