Cabinet of Prints

The collection of prints of the Castle Museum in Malbork contains over 1000 monuments. This resource includes engravings, drawings, watercolors and graphic plates, created over five centuries, from the 16th to the 20th centuries. The most important group of over one hundred compositions, made in various graphic and drawing techniques, is a set of historical views of the Malbork Castle. In this group, a series of nineteen graphic discs from the so-called of the old castle collections, prototypes for the album aquatint Schloss Marienburg in Preussen from the turn of the 18th / 19th century. Among other compositions, it is also worth mentioning the works of the Gdańsk painter of architectural monuments, Johann Carl Schultz from the second half of the 19th century. Of the nineteenth century, large-format etchings by Hugo Ulbrich from the beginning of the last century, as well as post-war works by Stanisław Żukowski and Stanisław Kajzer. The collection of engravings also includes a set of portraits depicting the great masters of the German Order and Polish kings, as well as plans and views of Polish and foreign towns and battle scenes. Within this group, three graphic representations of the Battle of Grunwald by Jan Suchodolski, Jan Matejko and Juliusz Kossak occupy an important place.
