Malbork Castle Museum invites you to Malbork Castle for the European Heritage Days
‘From Jerusalem to Malbork, or a tale of pilgrimage routes’, which is scheduled to take place on 7 August 2024 from 12 PM to 3 PM.
Topics of the meeting:
‘Songs on the pilgrimage routes’ – Musical workshop on crusade and pilgrimage songs, song learning and practical playing on replicas of medieval instruments, combined with a story about knights.

‘The Pilgrim’s Prayer Book’ – an educational workshop on practical learning how to write and decorate a prayer book, combined with a story about the role of the prayer book for the pilgrim.

‘On a donkey’s back to the High… or a crusade-pilgrimage castle game accompanied by a donkey on wheels‘ – a tour of the castle for the whole family in the form of a task-oriented tour led by an instructor. Participants learn about the idea of pilgrimage, make their own pannier and pilgrim badge and listen to stories about religious symbols.’

‘On the trail of pilgrim buildings’ – educational workshops on understanding the mechanics and function of ribbed vaults and the buttress system, using selected medieval sanctuaries as examples.

‘The Colossus of Malbork as a religious symbol of the castle and the city’ – an art workshop on painting a bas-relief of the Madonna located in a niche of the castle church, combined with a story about the religious spirituality of the Teutonic Order.

Included in the programme: free classes and workshops for teenagers, parents with children and senior citizens in groups of up to 20 people.
