Study visit by the management and employees of the Historical Museum in Trakai

At the end of May, we welcomed museum professionals from the Historical Museum in Trakai. The management and employees of the Lithuanian museum visited the Malbork Castle Museum as part of a study visit to discuss the concept for the exhibition ‘Gate to the Castle’ (as part of the EU-funded FEnIKS project: ‘Increasing the tourist attractiveness of historic buildings in the northern outer bailey of the castle complex in Malbork’). During the meeting, the Malbork Castle Museum employees presented renovation plans covering the Church of St Lawrence, the former infirmary building and Steinbrecht’s house. Once the work is complete, these buildings will serve as museums, exhibition spaces, educational facilities, administrative offices, storage areas and tourist service centres.
During the visit, the guests also learned about the museum’s exhibition offer and saw how conservation work is carried out in the Malbork Castle complex.
The study visit also included visits to the Malbork Castle Museum’s branches: Kwidzyn Castle and Sztum Castle.

The project ‘Increasing the tourist attractiveness of historic buildings in the northern outer bailey of the castle complex in Malbork through conservation and construction works, including land development of the surrounding area.’, co-financed by the FENIKS programme and the state budget.
