25th Years of the Siege of Malbork 1410 – Event Summary

Three days of excitement, medieval-themed attractions and memorable performances have now come to an end. The jubilee 25th edition of the Medieval Culture Festival “Siege of Malbork 1410” once again attracted thousands of enthusiasts of history, historical reenactment and the event’s unique atmosphere, transporting the grounds of the Malbork Castle Museum back to 1410 – the year of one of the most significant events in Polish history.

For three days, visitors enjoyed a wide range of medieval-inspired attractions. From traditional craft workshops and falconry displays to historical board games, the Children’s Stronghold, the Grand Master’s Camp and a period carousel, the programme invited families to step into everyday life as it was over six hundred years ago. Visitors could also take part in the unique “Knightly Adventure” – a night-time castle tour with reenactors, which has been one of the festival’s most eagerly anticipated highlights for years. The highlight of both Friday and Saturday was a spectacular reenactment depicting Władysław Jagiełło’s forces laying siege to the Malbork fortress, with hundreds of reenactors taking part in a production of remarkable scale.

This year’s festival held special significance. In 2026, the festival celebrated its 25th anniversary. A special ceremony was held to honour the people who brought this unique project to life in 2000. Marek Charzewski, Mayor of Malbork, Dr Janusz Trupinda, Director of the Malbork Castle Museum, and Marta Wróblewska of the Promotion, Tourism and International Cooperation Department of Malbork Town Hall expressed their gratitude to the initiators and organisers of the festival’s first edition for creating an event that, over twenty-five years, has grown into one of Poland’s most important historical reenactment festivals.

Our thanks go to all the reenactors, craftspeople, artists, volunteers, partners and, above all, visitors who helped us create the distinctive atmosphere of the anniversary edition of “Siege of Malbork 1410”. Because of you, history comes alive year after year beneath the walls of the world’s largest brick fortress.

Twenty-five years is a wonderful chapter in the history of the festival, but certainly not the last one. Join us again for the next edition – see you next year!
