25th anniversary of the presence of the Malbork Castle on the UNESCO World Heritage List

On Wednesday, September 28, 2022, in the Great Refectory, the 25th anniversary of the presence of the Malbork Castle on the UNESCO World Heritage List was celebrated. On Wednesday, September 28 this year. in the Great Refectory at the Middle Castle in Malbork, a ceremony was held on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the presence of the Malbork fortress on the UNESCO World Heritage List. On this occasion, awards were presented to distinguished employees of the Castle Museum in Malbork and commemorative medals to long-term employees. During the ceremony, a short film from 1998 was presented, showing the ceremonial unveiling of, among others, by the then director of the Castle Museum, Mariusz Mieraelński, a commemorative plaque devoted to inscribing the Malbork Castle on the UNESCO List. The plaque is on the wall next to the gate to the Middle Castle of the Malbork fortress. You can read on it that the site was entered on the UNESCO World Heritage List in December 1997. – “Malbork Castle has been inscribed on the UNESCO List in accordance with the Convention on the Protection of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage. This confirms the exceptional value of this monument, which deserves protection for the benefit of all mankind, ”we read on the board. Among the invited guests were representatives of the local and provincial government, representatives of Malbork uniformed services, former and current employees of the Castle Museum in Malbork, as well as the Lithuanian ambassador to Poland, Eduardas Borisovas. The ceremony was graced by a concert of the Polish Radio Orchestra “Amadeus” conducted by Anna Duczmal – Mróz.
