Malbork Castle Museum, Starościńska 1,82 – 200 Malbork
The Museum can be reached on foot or by your own means of transport. Two roads lead to the Sanitary and Cash Register Building, in which tourist traffic is serviced: – from the side of the Kałdowo district – by a bridge over the Nogat River and then Starościńska Street. This access is only available for pedestrian and bicycle traffic. Part of the road is paved with stones forming a very uneven surface; from the side of the railway station along Kościuszki Street and then Piastowska Street or Sierakowski Street. Car traffic is allowed on both roads. It is not possible to reach the Museum directly by public transport. People with disabilities can drive up to the main entrance to the Museum from Starościńska Street, where there are two parking spaces for people with disabilities. At the intersection of Piastowska and Starościńska streets, there is a sign prohibiting entry for cars without a pass, but it does not apply to people who have a Parking Card for the disabled.
Cash Register and Sanitary Building
The area around the Sanitary and Cash Register Building, including the square, which serves as a meeting point for tourists, is lined with small cubes, which allows for trouble-free movement also for people with various mobility dysfunctions, including those moving in a wheelchair. From the side of Piastowska Street there is a ramp for prams and bicycles. The cash register building is two-storey. The main entrance door to the building opens automatically. Contrasting door wrapping is in line with the adopted solutions to facilitate orientation for people with visual impairments. Inside the building there are no vertical and horizontal barriers. On the main floor there are ticket office and audioguide pick-up points. The cash registers do not have a lowered counter for people in wheelchairs.
Within the passage there is a waiting room for tourists waiting for the exit with a guide and a museum shop. To the waiting room, the door from the cash register side opens automatically. The doors to the store open in a traditional way. In the lower floor, which can be reached by stairs or elevator, there are toilets and luggage storage operating on the principle of self-service lockers. The toilet is partially adapted for people with mobility disabilities, i.e. it has adequate space and handles, but there is no paging system. Next to the toilet there is a room adapted for changing children, equipped with a changing table. The ticket office building is equipped with a wheelchair for people with mobility problems, which can be borrowed if necessary for the duration of their stay at the Museum. Renting a wheelchair requires contact with an employee of the cash desk or security.
There is no guidance system in the building, facilitating the movement of people with visual impairments.
Karwan
Karwan can be reached from the side of the Sanitary and Cash Register Building by the road that tourists enter the Castle or from the Old Town by Starościńska Street and from the Nogat River. The surface on each side is partly paved and partly paved. The sidewalks are made of slabs and have high curbs. Karwan performs administrative and conference functions. In some of the rooms there are offices of employees of the Castle Museum, which are not generally available and can be entered by people after prior appointment with a selected employee. In Karwan there is also a Library and a reading room, which can be used by people who are not employed in the Museum. The Karwan building is two-storey plus the ground floor. Reaching each floor is possible in two ways: stairs and elevator. The doors to the Karwanu building are large and heavy. Opening them requires strength. Stone threshold. Right at the entrance there is a duty room, where an employee is on duty to help communicate with the Museum employees operating in Karwan and to operate a vertical platform with the help of which people in wheelchairs can freely get to the ground floor where the elevator is located. Reaching each of the upper floors is possible in two ways: stairs and elevator. The toilet on the first floor is partially adapted to the needs of people with mobility impairments, i.e. it has adequate space and handles, but there is no paging system.
Castle Courtyards and passages
The main entrance to the Museum is located from Starościńska Street. The surface directly in front of the gate is paved. Entrance through a gate with a high threshold. If necessary, the gate is opened by employees of the Internal Security Service. At the gate, you can rent a wheelchair or a so-called walker to help people with mobility dysfunctions move for the duration of the tour. It is equipped with two trolleys and two walkers. Rental The road from the gate to the courtyard in the first part leads through a wooden bridge. On this section it does not pose problems in moving. In the second part, located in the so-called gate neck, it is paved and uneven. Courtyard paved with numerous unevenness. Moving around the courtyard for people with mobility problems can be difficult, requires attention and concentration, and operating a wheelchair also requires strength. The entrance to the High Castle is additionally hindered by a slight hill.
Rooms
Entering most rooms requires climbing stairs, often narrow, winding and/or steep with uneven steps heights. The passages between rooms are in very different widths, from very wide to not exceeding 75 cm. Most places lack facilities in the form of driveways or platforms. Stone, brick, ceramic, in some parts wooden or paved floors.
In the Palace of the Grand Masters there is a platform by the staircase, with the help of which you can get to the representative floor of the residence. The platform is operated by room supervision employees after prior recall.
In the courtyard of the Middle Castle there are toilets, including one fully adapted for people with mobility impairment. In the toilet there is a platform by the staircase operated by museum employees. Calling the employee starting the device requires going back to the main entrance.
The High Castle does not have any facilities for people with physical disabilities.
The exit from the Castle for people with mobility impairment, including wheelchair users with the help of orthopedic equipment and for their carers, takes place through the main gate.
Communication and information accessibility.
For people with hearing impairment
In the Cash and Sanitary Building, an induction loop is available in one cashier window. Information about the scope of activity and functioning of the Museum is not translated into the Polish Sign Language. Screens at ticket offices display information about ticket prices. There is no induction loop in the conference room located in Karwan. Audio guides with interpretation into Polish Sign Language are available. The choice of a device with a sign language version must be reported at the time of downloading the device at the point of issue.
Polish Sign Language interpreter in matters related to visiting the Castle available on site between 7:30 and 15:00.
For people with visual impairment
In the Museum there are no permanent inscriptions and descriptions in Braille, both in terms of the way of movement and descriptions of substantive content. An audio description system is also not used.
In the elevator in the Sanitary and Cash Register Building, the buttons are described in Braille. However, there is no voice notification and recall system. The elevator in the Karwan building lacks facilities for the blind and visually impaired.
Other markings in the Museum concern emergency routes and exits and are marked in accordance with the adopted regulations.
Other
There is a possibility to leave a bicycle and a pram on the territory of the Museum. The designated place is located on the zwinger from the west (after the bridge leading from the main gate, you have to turn right in the gate neck).
All rooms of the Museum can be entered with a guide dog and an assistance dog. Other animals are not allowed into the premises, this also applies to the courtyard. For the duration of the visit to the Museum, you can leave your cat or dog in the designated place. The animals will be supervised and will have access to water and shelter from the sun or precipitation. Pets must have an up-to-date health book.

Kwidzyn can be reached by private transport from Malbork by national road 55, from Kwidzyn by national road 55, and by public transport. by bus or train. From the railway station, the route leads along Reja and Mickiewicza streets
The castle complex performs administrative functions for the Museum employees and exhibition and educational functions for visitors.
It is not possible to park the car directly in front of the Museum. You can drive near the main gate to facilitate the passage of people with mobility difficulties, but later the car must be escorted to the parking lot next door, which is not owned by the Museum.
The area directly in front of the museum is paved.
The entrance to the Museum is through the main gate, which has a high threshold, but it is possible to open it entirely to people in wheelchairs or moving with the help of orthopedic equipment.
The courtyard is partly paved and partly paved with stone slabs. Navigating it does not cause major problems.
The cash register office is located immediately after entering the Museum in the so-called gate neck. Due to the high placed small window, it is not possible for people from the wheelchair level to use it.
The exhibitions are located in the basements, on the ground floor level and on the two upper floors.
The entrance to each floor requires overcoming high thresholds and / or stairs. The stairs have irregular heights, partly winding and narrow. In some cases, the width of the passage does not exceed 75 cm.
There are no devices to facilitate movement up the stairs such as portable ramps, elevators or platforms. The toilet intended for tourists is located in the courtyard and is not adapted for people with disabilities.
Communication and information availability
For people with hearing impairment
There are no induction loops in the building. There is no information displayed in Polish Sign Language. Audio guides have a pre-loaded version in Polish Sign Language.
It is not possible to hire a Polish Sign Language interpreter on site.
For people with visual impairment.
There are no inscriptions in Braille in the Museum, both in terms of the way of movement and descriptions of substantive content. An audio description system is also not used. There is no plan showing the layout of rooms in the typhlo system.
The nature exhibition has a recording of the presented content, which is played continuously in a loop system.
Other markings in the Museum concern emergency routes and exits and are marked in accordance with the adopted regulations.

Before entering the Museum, it is possible to leave a bicycle.
You can enter the Museum with an assistance dog and a guide dog. Other animals are not allowed into the premises, this also applies to the courtyard. There is no designated place where you can leave the animal in care.

Sztum can be reached by private transport from Malbork by national road 55, from Kwidzyn by national road 55 and by public transport. From the railway station, the route leads along Reja and Mickiewicza streets. The bus stop is about 100 meters from the Museum Gate.
The castle complex performs administrative functions for the Museum employees and exhibition and educational functions for visitors. The courtyard and the south wing of the Castle are available to visitors.
The museum does not have its own car park. Cars should be parked in a public car park nearby. This also applies to people with a Parking Card for people with disabilities.
The road directly to the gate of the Museum is paved with paving stones, which can cause problems for people in wheelchairs or having other mobility problems. The courtyard is partly paved and partly grass is sown on it.
The southern wing, in which the exhibitions are located, is two-storey plus cellars and attic, which are not available to visitors. The entrance to the exhibition part is located at the courtyard level. In the lobby on the ground floor level there is a ticket office and an audio guide dispensing point. The counter is placed at a level that allows it to be used by people in wheelchairs.
The ground floor with part of the exhibition is entirely accessible to people with mobility impairments.
Reaching the upper floor, where the exhibition is also located, is not possible for people in wheelchairs. It can also be a nuisance for people with mobility problems, including those using orthopedic equipment. There are no devices to help you move up the stairs.
The visitor toilet is not adapted for people with mobility impairment.
