The collection of historical documentation was established in 1970. It includes 3,260 objects. Among them is the documentation of the renovation works of the Malbork Castle in the second half of the 19th and 1st half XX century. It contains inventory and design drawings of the external appearance of the castle, its interiors, as well as sculptural, painting and furnishings. This extremely valuable collection also includes a set of photo albums (yearbooks called Marienburg Baujahr), in which from 1882 to 1918 it was presented in photos with commentaries, the history of conservation works and the most important events in the history of the castle. Historical documentation also includes archival documents created in the period from the 18th to the 20th century, such as a set of Malbork guild documents, documents of Żuławy parishes, as well as facsimiles of legal acts concerning the history of Malbork and Prussia from the Teutonic and Polish periods. It consists of over 900 postcards from the period from the 1890s to the 70s of the 20th century, the territorial range of which is primarily the former Prussian provinces. Malbork and other large cities of the region: Gdańsk, Królewiec and Toruń are the most strongly represented. A separate part of this collection consists of 181 cartographic relics from the 16th century to the 1940s, presenting mainly the former territories of Prussia, but also Poland within the pre-partition borders and Germany.
