Three the Malbork Castle Museum books recognised in the ‘Most Beautiful Polish Books 2025’ competition
We have been recognised once again! This time, it is our books that have received recognition. Three of them to be exact! Each aimed at a different audience: history and art enthusiasts, younger readers, and those who wish to learn even more about the Malbork Castle.
The jury of the 66th Polish Book Publishers’ Association Competition “The Most Beautiful Polish Books 2025” awarded honourable mentions to: ‘Jak to działało? Mechanizmy zamku w Malborku’ [i.e. ‘How Did It Work? The Mechanisms of Malbork Castle’] and ‘Malbork Castle in the Grand Master’s Times, Including an Outline of Its Subsequent History a Visitor’s Companion’. The book ‘Zaproście mnie do stołu… Porcelana polska z manufaktur w Korcu i Baranówce na Wołyniu w zbiorach Muzeum Zamkowego w Malborku’ [i.e. Invite Me to the Table… Polish Porcelain from the Korzec and Baranówka Manufactories in Volhynia in the Collections of the Malbork Castle Museum]. was also recognised.
The awards and honourable mentions were presented during the International Book Fair in Warsaw (28 May 2026).
We are proud of the achievements of the employees at the Malbork Castle Museum and thank you for recognising and appreciating their work!

HOW DID IT WORK? THE MECHANISMS OF MALBORK CASTLE
This is a unique publication aimed at children of various ages (5–10 years), but it is also likely to interest many adult readers. It presents and explains the workings of ten historical engineering solutions, such as a drawbridge, a horse mill, a crane, and so on.
The text is based on Ryszard Rząd’s book ‘How Did It Work? The Mechanisms of Malbork Castle’. The creative editorial concept of the publication, consisting of two separate sections bound together, is particularly noteworthy. One section contains a technical description enriched with photographs and sketches of the castle’s mechanisms.

INVITE ME TO THE TABLE… POLISH PORCELAIN FROM THE KORZEC AND BARANÓWKA MANUFACTORIES IN VOLHYNIA IN THE COLLECTIONS OF THE MALBORK CASTLE MUSEUM
The origins of the collection of porcelain from the Polish manufactories in Korzec and Baranówka in Volhynia date back to the very beginnings of the Malbork Castle Museum. The first purchases were made the year the Museum was founded. Between 1973 and 2001, this collection was displayed in a permanent exhibition in the east wing of the Middle Castle, and today selected artefacts from Korzec and Baranówka are on display in the Infirmary. Most of the 282 items in the collection therefore remain inaccessible to visitors and anyone interested. It is with great pleasure that we present this publication, which is the latest volume in the series of catalogues of the Malbork collection. It not only provides a detailed description of all the exhibits, but also presents the history of the manufactories in Korzec and Baranówka, describes their activities and production, and outlines the history of the Malbork collection’s growth. It covers an important part of the history of Polish craftsmanship, the Malbork Museum, and the history of the community of Malbork and the entire Malbork region after the Second World War.
