Emerging artists will be invited to promote their work during the activities organised as part of the Project.

The Project includes a range of measures to enhance accessibility, as well as the introduction of a social innovation consisting of environmental education activities dedicated to groups with specific needs. The Project will also be directed towards cultural sector professionals, including through dedicated training programmes aimed at strengthening their skills and competencies.

Project goals and results

The main objective of the Project is to protect and enhance the attractiveness of Kwidzyn Castle by creating appropriate infrastructure conditions conducive to active participation in culture.

The implementation of the Project will contribute to increasing the attractiveness of the historic Kwidzyn Castle, improve the management of visitor traffic, and strengthen the institution’s brand.

The Project aligns with the specific objective of Measure FENX.07.01 Cultural Infrastructure and Cultural Tourism, defined as “Strengthening the role of culture and sustainable tourism in economic development, social inclusion and social innovation”.

As a result of the investment, new exhibition space will be created at Kwidzyn Castle, which will be used for the following exhibitions:

  • an exhibition on the history of the Pomesanian Chapter, aimed at disseminating knowledge about the Castle’s first inhabitants – the canons;
  • an exhibition devoted to historic noble families, focusing on the early modern period and promoting knowledge of noble life and heraldry;
  • a permanent archaeological and natural history exhibition on the Palaeolithic period, devoted to hunter-gatherers and the pre-agricultural nomadic era;
  • an archaeological exhibition on the Wielbark culture;
  • an ethnographic exhibition on the Lower Vistula region.

In addition, the Project envisages the adaptation of part of the building at 1 Kruka Street to accommodate a permanent exhibition presenting the most significant themes in the history of the city of Kwidzyn, as well as a new visitor information point with a museum shop.

Upon completion of the Project, a new cultural and educational programme will be introduced in the form of events directly linked to the themes of the new permanent exhibitions. These events will take place both within the museum and in the surrounding rural areas. The programme is planned to be delivered in cooperation with external partners, namely the Eko-Inicjatywa Association and the Kwidzyn Cultural Centre. The Project also supports increased digital accessibility through the enhancement of staff competencies in this area and the purchase of equipment, enabling the new programme to be enriched with recurring online events.

The implementation of the Project will also result in the creation of new jobs.
