Important information for Museum visitors – pedestrian footbridge closed

Starting November 16, the pedestrian footbridge over the Nogat River (St. Adalbert’s Bridge) — which connects the castle to the opposite bank — will be completely closed for renovations.

This is a crucial change if you are planning a visit!

  • A popular vantage point and parking area: Many tourists leave their cars in parking lots on the west side of the river (in the Kałdowo district), which offers the famous panoramic view of the fortress. Previously, visitors could reach the castle in just a few minutes by crossing the footbridge.

  • Access route: During the renovation, the only way to cross the river will be via the Rotmistrz Pilecki Road Bridge (part of the DK55 route), which includes a pedestrian sidewalk.

  • Allow extra time for your walk: Taking the detour via the road bridge adds approximately 15–20 minutes to the walk to the entrance of the Castle Museum. Please factor in this extra time, especially if you have a ticket for a specific entry slot. Alternatively, you may choose to use parking lots located directly on the castle side (near the city center).
