Malbork Castle once again takes a step back in time: the Medieval Culture Festival ‘The Siege of Malbork 1410’ returns for its 25th anniversary edition!
From 24 to 26 July 2026, one of the largest and most spectacular re-enactment events in Poland is to take place – the Medieval Culture Festival ‘The Siege of Malbork 1410’. Every year, this extraordinary event attracts thousands of tourists from all over the world, history enthusiasts and fans of the medieval atmosphere. For three days, the area surrounding the world’s largest brick stronghold turns into a bustling medieval town.
Craft fair and medieval attractions
The Medieval Culture Festival is an event packed with attractions for the whole family from early in the morning. From Friday to Sunday, the Craft Fair is to take place on the castle grounds. Exhibitors, dressed in historical costumes, are to display and sell their wares at stalls and in tents resembling those of the Middle Ages.
Visitors will also have the opportunity to:
• Watch thrilling jousting tournaments.
• Admire demonstrations of siege engines and black powder weapons.
• See a falconry camp with various birds of prey.
• Listen to live early music as part of the ‘Song of the Crusaders’ series.
• Discover medieval craft shops.
• Take part in educational workshops.
The youngest visitors can enjoy a children’s castle with games of skill for commoners, as well as knightly activities at the Grand Master’s Camp in the Zwinger.
The night tour: ‘A Knight’s Adventure at the Castle’
As dusk slowly falls, the organisers invite you to an absolutely unique attraction – ‘A Knight’s Adventure at the Castle’.
This is a unique night tour of the castle’s interiors, which are transformed for the occasion into a bustling medieval stronghold. This is no ordinary guided walk, but a living historical spectacle!
As participants wander through the castle’s cloisters accompanied by the light of torches, they are literally transported back in time. Along the route, you encounter armoured knights and dignitaries, eavesdrop on a secret council with the Grand Master, visit a medieval field hospital, and even witness the interrogation of prisoners. This extraordinary journey is accompanied by the atmospheric sounds of Gregorian chants.
• When: Friday and Saturday (24 and 25 July 2026) from 7.30 pm to 9.30 pm (groups admitted every 15 minutes).
Spectacular evening re-enactment
The festival days culminate (on Friday and Saturday at 10:00 pm on the von Plauen ramparts) with a spectacular historical re-enactment. It draws on events from the summer of 1410 when the Polish-Lithuanian army, led by King Władysław Jagiełło, launched an assault on the Teutonic Order’s capital, fresh from their victory at Grunwald.
This year, the spectacle, directed by Aleksander Krempeć, features a new script and a new musical arrangement. Spectators can expect breathtaking battle scenes, charges by knights on horseback, stunt displays and the roar of siege engines – all this in a unique setting. The grand finale of both evenings is a spectacular fire show performed by the Artists’ Collective and directed by Sebastian Frodyma.
Practical information and tickets
The craft fair and daytime festival attractions are open to visitors at the following times:
• Friday and Saturday (24–25 July 2026): 10:00 am – 8:00 pm
• Sunday (26 July 2026): 10:00 am – 4:00 pm
Entry to the von Plauen ramparts (the fairground area) is free of charge, but to enter the Western Zwinger area visitors have to pay a small fee (PLN 10 for all three days of the festival).
Important: In order to attend the night tour ‘Knight’s Adventure’ and the evening re-enactment ‘The Siege of Malbork 1410’, visitors must purchase tickets. Due to the huge demand, we strongly recommend purchasing tickets well in advance:
