Signing of the contract with the construction works contractor in the northern Outer Bailey

Plans are becoming a reality! On 21 October 2026, the Malbork Castle Museum signed a contract with a building contractor who is to undertake the works in the northern Outer Bailey area. The project has been co-funded by the FENIKS programme and the state budget.

Tender procedure concluded, works commence

Following the tender procedure, a contractor capable of carrying out the project in its entirety has been selected. The contractor is Kamaro Spółka z ograniczoną odpowiedzialnością Spółka komandytowa. The project is titled: ‘Increasing the tourist attractiveness of historic buildings in the northern Outer Bailey of the castle complex in Malbork through conservation and construction works, including land development of the surrounding area’. The contract value is: PLN 28,923,450.00 gross, of which the amount covered by funding is: PLN 25,639,350.00 gross. The works are to be completed within 20 months of the date of signing the contract.

The contract was signed by Dr Janusz Trupinda, Director of the Malbork Castle Museum (left), and Tomasz Tomanik, President of the Management Board of Kamaro (right).

The fruit of our joint efforts

The signing of the contract marks the end of an important stage in the work on this investment project, which has involved an interdisciplinary team from the Malbork Castle Museum dedicated to this project for many months. The signing of the contract was attended by representatives of the departments directly involved in preparing the documentation and conducting the tender procedure, namely the Finance and Accounting Department, the Castle Conservation Department and the Public Procurement Department.

Adapting historic buildings to new functions

The plan to enhance the appeal of the historic buildings in the northern part of the Outer Bailey are now being put into action! The Church of St Lawrence, the former Infirmary and the Villa of the Castle Reconstruction Board, together with the adjacent grounds, are to be adapted for new functions whilst ensuring the preservation of their historic fabric.

And once the conservation and construction works are complete, it will be time to set up a new permanent exhibition, open a new ticket office, implement a change in visitor flow, develop an educational nature trail, make new educational rooms available, fit out the offices and workshops of the Castle Conservation Department, and undertake many other tasks and projects that this investment entails.
