Renovation of Kwidzyn Castle – subsidy from the FEnIKS programme – renovation work plan

It has been a few days since the official announcement of the results of the third call for applications for the FEnIKS 2021–2027 programme. It was under this programme that employees at the Malbork Castle Museum submitted a project last year ‘Comprehensive construction and conservation works at Kwidzyn Castle, including the adaptation of premises in the adjacent new development for exhibition purposes’. Months of effort paid off and on 13 April 2026 the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage officially announced that the Malbork Castle Museum is one of the 24 beneficiaries of the FEnIKS programme. At the festive event in Warsaw, the Museum was represented by Director Agnieszka Kowalska and Monika Rogalewska, who is the coordinator of the Kwidzyn project.

The project involves a comprehensive renovation, covering both the interiors and the exterior of the Castle in Kwidzyn. Work is to be carried out on all floors and involves a change in the use of currently unused spaces. In addition, the project assumes the adaptation of part of the facility at 1 Kruka Street for the permanent exhibition ‘Taki oto Kwidzyn’ [i.e. This is Kwidzyn]. Planning also includes furnishing the exhibition and other rooms with the necessary equipment.
